The number of tourists visiting the southeast of Poland has grown considerably the last years. This has to do with the historical city Cracow, which is now Unesco World Heritage. Another reason is the easy and cheap flights with low cost airlines. You will be able to visit Cracow, but you are here to cycle of course. This is indeed the ideal destination because the south of Poland has one of the most beautiful nature reserves of the country, the Tatra Mountains, at the border of Slovakia.

The tour starts in Cracow, where you can visit many historical monuments and where you enjoy the cosiness of the city. Cracow is sometimes called the Florence of Poland and is said to be one of the most beautiful cities of Europe. The city remained intact during the Second World War, while most other cities were destroyed.

Your cycling tour goes through enormous mountains, but isn't difficult as you will mainly follow valleys and cycle on safe country roads. During the whole tour you only need to climb 3 times, and at the most 2 kilometres. We reach Zakopane, the principal place of the High Tatra and a favourite place for hikers and skiers. You start cycling at 1200 metres and follow a breathtaking circuit downwards through the surrounding mountain ranges of the Tatra, such as the Pieniny mountain with its extensive ridges, grown with quiet woods.

The region is internationally known for its flora and fauna, especially for its large bird population. You cycle through the Beskid mountains, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. This is one of the thinly populated regions in Europe. It is also a recognized biosphere reserve because of the unique nature elements. During the tour you will pass old farms, small settlements and villages with wooden churches and decorated houses. The humble and friendly people still cherish the old popular traditions. And you will never be hungry after dinner, because of the copious and tasty meals!
